Costa Daurada – Summer for the whole family in the north-east of Spain

Enjoy a fantastic holiday on the Costa Daurada this summer. Tarragona will wow you with its many attractions, which include beaches for all the family, sports and adventure activities, and breathtaking landscapes.

We’re about to tell you lots more about the so-called ‘trident’ of the Costa Daurada, which is a certified “Family Tourism Destination” and includes Salou, Cambrils and La Pineda Platja. Keep on reading!

Salou

Known as the capital of the Costa Daurada, this small town is one of the most popular tourist destinations in north-eastern Spain. Soak up the sun on its idyllic beaches, perfect for water sports, spend a relaxing day in the warm weather, or enjoy the numerous leisure and dining options along the seafront promenade. Don’t miss the Platja de Llevant, Cala Crancs, and Cala Penya Tallada beaches. 

During your visit, be sure to walk along the Camí de Ronda, a five-mile path that runs along the entire coastline, from Pilons to the Salou lighthouse. You’ll find a wealth of nature and beautiful landscapes to photograph!

In 2013, Salou was awarded the Sports Tourism Destination seal, making it the ideal place for lovers of cycle touring, sailing, rallying and golf, among others.

Just 15 minutes by car from the centre of Salou, you’ll find PortAventura World, one of the biggest tourist attractions in the area. This huge theme park is ideal for a family day out. Dare to take a ride on its top attractions, such as Shambhala or Hurakan Condor. Inside the park yocambrilsu can find Sesamo Aventura, which is an area for the little ones; and Ferrari Land, which features attractions based on the world of Ferrari.

Make sure not to leave without sampling its rich Mediterranean cuisine, based on products from the sea and the land, which has been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage. We recommend you try the calçots and the olla barrejada. Mouthwatering!

Cambrils

With a mild climate almost all year round, its golden sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters are perfect for a leisurely boat ride, diving or snorkelling. Cambrils is a welcoming seaside town with plenty of charm, where you can find the Platja de la Llosa and Platja del Regueral beaches.

When it comes to nature, don’t miss the Pinaret Park, a large pine forest with several hiking trails; and the Samà Park, a spectacular botanical garden declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest.

Cambrils is also an appealing destination for lovers of archaeological tourism, with renowned sites such as the Roman Villa of La Llosa or El Cavet, where the oldest Neolithic remains in the Iberian Peninsula can be found.

Cambrils’ culinary heritage – based on fishing and agriculture – makes its gastronomy unique, with two Michelin-starred restaurants and a multitude of restaurants specialising in avant-garde seafood recipes. 

Vila-seca, La Pineda Platja

Belonging to the municipality of Vila-Seca, La Pineda is a small village that has a lot more to offer than you might imagine. La Pineda Platja boasts almost two miles of gin-clear waters and plenty of interesting leisure and entertainment options.

In the old part of the town is the Castell de Vila-Seca, a large space with contemporary art exhibitions that contrasts with its historic surroundings. Another major attraction in the village is the Castell del Comte Sicart, to the north of the centre.

A quintessential activity that the whole family can enjoy is a visit to Aquopolis Costa Daurada, which features a huge variety of swimming pools, slides, shows, marine fauna and restaurants. Young and old alike will have a great time! 😉
