Gastronomy  

Morocco’s gastronomy was ranked the second best in the world in 2017 by the British blog Worldsim Travel. And no wonder! If you’re looking to discover completely different flavours, this is the place for you. Meals usually start with a variety of salads, which can include raw or cooked vegetables, briouates stuffed with chicken or minced meat, tektouta -a ratatouille of peppers and tomatoes- and zaâlouk -an aubergine purée-. 

Among the main dishes, we recommend you try the tajine, a mixture of meat and vegetables served in earthenware cooking pot and flavoured with spices. The harira is not far behind, a thick soup that is very popular during Ramadan. Couscous, meanwhile, is the main accompaniment to all meals and is served with meat and vegetables, while mechoui and tanjia are roasted meats full of flavour. You’ll love them! 

For sweet lovers, there are delicious desserts such as chebakia, fried with honey and sesame; gazelle horns, almond-filled biscuits; and ghriba, semolina or almond biscuits, to complete your gastronomic experience. 

Culture 

Moroccan culture is a clear reflection of the deep-rooted traditions that have evolved and are revealed in festivals, performances and even everyday life. The Moussems are annual festivals associated with religious celebrations that reveal the country’s cultural heritage. One example is the Tan-Tan festival, where the nomadic tribes of the Sahara gather to sing and celebrate their way of life. Another highlight is the Sefrou cherry festival with parades, music and dancing – don’t miss it! 

Craftsmanship plays an important role in Moroccan culture, with argan oil production and falconry, activities that enrich the intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO. Likewise, places like Jemaa El Fna Square in Marrakesh and the impressive architecture of cities such as Fez and Rabat, World Heritage Sites, are a must-see on your trip to the Mediterranean country. 

Adventure 

If you are an adrenaline-seeker on every trip… Morocco will enchant you! Cities such as Ouarzazate, Zagora and Tinghir offer a wide range of adventure activities, with activities such as trekking in the mountains of Djebel Saghro, exciting 4×4 vehicle rides in the dunes of Chgaga or fun camel rides.  

The city of Casablanca offers exciting water activities in the Atlantic Ocean such as surfing, windsurfing, diving and sport fishing – the possibilities at sea are endless! What’s more, this city is known for its world-renowned golf courses, are you in? 

In Azilal, the majestic Atlas Mountains offer activities such as rafting, hiking and paragliding, where you’ll be in deep connection with nature in the area. You can also go kayaking and canyoning in the gorges of Arous, where you can get your adrenaline pumping! 

Fashion 

For a full day of shopping, we recommend the cities of Casablanca and Marrakech. In Casablanca, the Mâarif district is a shopper’s paradise, offering everything from street fashion to international luxury brands in the iconic Golden Triangle. The Anfa Place shopping centre, Marina shopping centre and the Morocco Centre will complete your experience with a wide range of luxury brands and services, facing the Atlantic coast.  

Marrakech is known for its traditional souk at Jemaa el-Fenaa, but is also home to modern shopping centres such as the Menara Mall, Al Mazar centre and Carré Eden, where you will find internationally renowned boutiques. These places offer not only fashion, but also a wide variety of activities such as restaurants, spas and amusement parks – a complete experience! 

Beaches 

Discover the wide variety of beaches that Morocco has to offer! Casablanca’s Ain Diab beach stands out, with long stretches of sand and calm waters ideal for water activities such as jet-skiing and windsurfing. The beach is also fully equipped and has a lively nightlife. 

In Essaouira, the charming Mogador Beach combines modernity and sustainability in its eco-resort, offering unforgettable and relaxing stays on idyllic beaches.
