Transatlantic Cruises with Cunard

Cunard first offered Transatlantic cruises in 1840, between Liverpool and Boston aboard Britannia, but today we’re hooked on the Queen Mary 2 and her sailings between Southampton and New York, and rightly so – they’re a true voyage experience that every lover of cruise should have the chance to enjoy at least once.

There’s nothing quite like spending several days at sea and then suddenly catching sight of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, followed by the Brooklyn skyline and the majestic Statue of Liberty. It really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and until you do it, you’ll never truly understand just how magical it really is. Let’s see what you can expect from Transatlantic cruises with Cunard…

Cunard ship in New York City

Southampton to New York with Cunard

These sailings are generally between 7-nights in duration and are spent entirely at sea. Ideal for those who want to enjoy the beauty of the majestic Queen Mary 2. Of course, you can also sail from New York to Southampton, which a lot of people tend to do. It’s a great way to enjoy a shopping trip in the Big Apple and then not have to worry about the weight of your luggage for your return journey to the UK.

These sailings are also a great way to spend more time in the US, should you wish to do so. You can simply sail from Southampton to New York, travel to other states and have other experiences and then re-join the ship in Brooklyn when you wish to do so.

Roundtrip Transatlantic with Cunard

Another option is to embark on a round-trip voyage. These tend to be roughly 14-to-21-nights in duration and allow you the chance to enjoy a day in New York before re-boarding for your return voyage to the UK. Again, the ideal choice for those that want the ship to be their overall holiday destination.

Onboard, there’s a wonderful planetarium which is one of a kind. You’ll also find a variety of dining options, bars and public lounges, swimming pools, spa, gym and much more. There’s also the option to book Princess Grill or Queen’s Grill staterooms and suites for which have dedicated areas that can only be accessed by Grill guests.
