Sustainable cruising aboard the newest ships

There are numerous sustainable cruising options out there for you to choose from and aboard some of the world’s newest cruise ships. The cruise industry has taken massive steps in recent years to make cruising cleaner and one line that is also doing its bit is Costa Cruises!

Sustainable Cruising with Costa Cruises

Costa Smeralda was Built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. This 135,500 gross tonnage ship offers a comfortable capacity for over 5,000 guests and is a sister ship to Costa Toscana. The entire Costa fleet, including Costa Smeralda, Costa Toscana, Costa Diadema, Costa Pacifica and Costa Favolosa, will all allow you to submerge yourself in Italian flare on an unforgettable cruise.

With Costa Cruises, you’re promised a sustainable cruise that offers delicious cuisine, more time ashore to explore, exciting onboard entertainment and more!

If you book a cruise with Costa, you’ll also be doing your bit for the planet. Both Costa Smeralda and Costa Toscana feature one of the most innovative propulsion systems within the cruise industry and are powered by Liquified Natural Gas (LNG).  The cruise line has also taken steps to eradicate almost all single-use plastics onboard and 100% of waste onboard is completely separated and sorted. In short, it’s all about caring for the world we live in and ensuring the most we leave in any destination are footprints.

Icon of the Seas, the world’s biggest cruise ship

We’re not quite finished talking about the newest cruise ships on the market, oh, no! There’s more. Now, we move on to Royal Caribbean and their latest fleet addition of  Icon of the Seas. Now, this is not just any cruise ship, it is the biggest cruise ship in the world, by gross tonnage, and she is jam-packed with features and facilities that will just blow your mind. If you’re looking to push the boundaries onboard and ashore and fill your day with pure excitement, then Royal Caribbean is the cruise line for you.  Icon of the Seas is also notable for belonging to a new Royal Caribbean ship class to be powered by LNG that will guarantee reduced emissions. Read more about this ship here!

Arvia is on her way

P&O Cruises also have some exciting new cruise ships in the mix. Iona sailed on her maiden voyage in summer 2021 and received rave reviews, but hot on her heels is Arvia, her sister-ship. Iona was the first British cruise ship to be powered by Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) and Arvia will be no different. The industry as a collective really is taking huge steps towards reducing emissions and trying to give back to the places its ships visit. Arvia will join the fleet in late 2022.
